Who benefits

Program delivery

Online - Our programs are designed for busy professionals who also have family, work, and other study commitments, and therefore they are offered exclusively online with weekly online lessons and assessments that you can complete at a time that works best with your schedule.

Program Outline

Webinars: Live online presentations delivered for free each month.

Webinars focus on topics such as patient-centred care, shift-to-shift reports, SBAR, critical thinking skills, taking a patient history, dementia, long term care, and mental health assessment, to name a few. Participants can interact with the presenter and other participants by typing responses and/or using audio/video. Students need a webcam, headset and mic to participate.

CCCN Modules: Language, communication, and culture training for internationally educated nurses, offered in 5-week or 10-week blocks.

Our modules focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills as well as strategies to enhance overall communication within a healthcare context. Nursing-related themes include documentation, reporting, history-taking, therapeutic communication, patient-centred care, assertive communication, ethics, and more.

Each week, a new theme is introduced with weekly online lessons, practice activities, and assessment tasks to submit to your online instructor for personalized feedback. There is also a 1.5 hour live online class with a speaking and listening focus. While we recommend attending this class live, the classes are recorded for your convenience.

For most students, our 5-week and 10-week modules take approximately 4 hours per week to complete.

Pronunciation for Health Professionals: A 12-week program to teach clear and effective communication by highlighting strategies to fine-tune pronunciation, speech patterns, and overall speaking skills.

This program focuses on helping health professionals be more easily understood by patients, their families, and the healthcare team. All content contains medical vocabulary, exercises, and role-play scenarios that are specific to a medical setting. Participants are required to complete online lessons and assessment tasks, and participate in a live online class each week.
